Lawsuit claims shoddy workmanship resulted in
mold in building of town homes

DADE CITY, FL –– Sixteen people filed suit Thursday against
Sedgwick Developers, its president, a company sales representative and Premier Design
Homes alleging shoddy workmanship on their town homes, The Tampa Tribune
reported.
The lawsuit
accuses the defendants of violations in the construction of the town homes, including:
Shoddy workmanship, Breach of contract, and Fraud.
Some
residents also have suffered respiratory and sinus problems allegedly caused by
"dangerous
mold infestations", the newspaper reported. Among the defendants are a couple
who have been alleging deceptive trade practices for nearly a year, the article said.
Another
tenant said she suffers from asthma and headaches because of the numerous problems with
her unit, which she said include mold, mildew, leaking windows, plumbing problems, a
sagging roof and rats, the newspaper reported.
The lawsuit
comes three months after Sedgwick Developers and its president sued a resident who has
been vocal about the alleged problems with the homes. Sedgwick has accused him of
engaging in conduct meant to damage the developer's reputation and the community's
property and value, the article said.
